Timothy Hutton knows his television history about rogue-like helpers of the oppressed.

That’s why he’s dreaming about a scenario where past underdog helpers, like Mr. T, could make visits on his TNT show, “Leverage,” which has been renewed for a fourth season.

“It would be great to get Mr. T. on ‘Leverage,’ ” Hutton tells PopcornBiz. “Maybe in the fourth season we should have a running theme in every show, sort of peppering in somebody from a past show like the ‘A-team.’ ”

For Oscar-winning actor Timothy Hutton, agreeing to star in TNT’s Leverage wasn’t a tough decision — at least not after he read the script.

“It was a real opportunity to play a person who had these awful things happen involving his son and the destruction of his marriage — someone who needed a real breakthrough in their life,” Hutton says. “I wondered how this tragedy would manifest itself in him and the choices he would make.”

Too bad they don’t give out Emmy awards for Best Performance by a City Impersonating Another City. If they did, Portland would definitely be a contender, since our beloved burg does such a bang-up job pretending to be Boston in “Leverage,” the TNT series that films here.
