Magnolia gets ‘Serious’
Magnolia Pictures has acquired North American rights to Cheryl Hines’ directorial debut “Serious Moonlight.”
The dark comedy, about an attorney who holds her husband captive when she finds out he’s about to leave her for a younger woman, stars Meg Ryan, Timothy Hutton, Kristen Bell and Justin Long.

In the season-two opener of TNT’s popular caper “Leverage,” an honest banker is concerned his employers are trying to hoodwink the government for a less-than-honest bailout loan.
Encouraged by his daughter to call the police, the banker soon receives a violent education from the crooks on the dangers of going to the well-intentioned but overwhelmed authorities.
Luckily for the banker, Nate Ford (Oscar-winning actor Timothy Hutton) and his team of professional crooks-gone-good step in and save the day….

Timothy plays Nathan Ford, a former insurance investigator who, after losing his son and his marriage, has traded to the other side of the law. He’s the mastermind behind a crew of scam artists—a hacker, an actor, a muscleman and a thief—who pride themselves on coming up with elaborate cons to intercept corrupt corporate suits and protect the little guy. The Oprah.com Screening Room caught up with Timothy from Portland, Oregon, where he’s shooting Season 2.

THE SKINNY: The LEVERAGE team is not only good at the art of the con, but as the TNT series proved last night, they’re also pretty great at stealing away viewers from the major networks. The second season premiere of LEVERAGE netted 3.9 million viewers The series from executive producer Dean Devlin and starring Oscar winner Timothy Hutton also out-performed its first-season average among viewers and households.

Timothy Hutton is an actor who’s career shouldn’t need any introduction. After becoming the youngest actor to win the Best Supporting Actor Oscar at age 20 for Ordinary People, Hutton never stopped working, launching a career full of diverse roles in film and television. Now the actor gets to portray many diverse characters in one series, playing Nathan Ford – who has to assume several identities to pull off these white-collar scams against the rich – in the wonderful TNT series Leverage, which comes back for a second season on Wedesnday, July 15 at 9 PM ET, and you can also catch Leverage: The 1st Season in a four-disc DVD set on July 14 (check back for my full review of the first season DVD set by tomorrow). I had the privilege of speaking with Hutton over the phone about his role in this highly-entertaining series and here’s what he had to say.
